Why Art?
Just as we need literature, beautiful sunsets, music and inspiration, we need art. Pat’s work speaks to her fans and clients for a variety of reasons including: reminders of the beauty we don’t always stop to see; embellishments of scenes that could be more; and color/line/imagination that combine to make an abstract view that entices.
Pat’s work brings delight, peace and a vision of a magical future we all are creating. Often she sees more beauty and color than is apparent, so she shares that vision with those who admire and acquire her work. We need the inspiration, hope and enticement that Pat provides.
Bio
Pat has been interested in art most of her life. She taught crafts and various arts at camps during high school. Then there was copper enameling ["I had never heard those two words put together. Still I had been hired to do this. Great fun at the Chautauqua NY Boys and Girls Club."]
While her long term career serving the public and public health occasionally made use of her creative talents, it was not until she was in graduate school in the mid 80ies that she took a watercolor class ["Again I did not know that word."] It was also much more free than the oriental brushwork classes.
So subsequently, when Pat was in the DC area, she took one class a week for many years. ["I could drag myself through Friday's work after a Thursday night figure painting class. Besides I wanted to get started to find out if I would enjoy painting and the results... What a relief to find I did!"]
When the freedom to do more art came early and Pat could paint more - she was grateful to do so. She has works in collections in New York, Vermont, Massachusetts, California, D.C., Maryland, Virginia.
This is a fun / spiritual / delightful calling. Let me share my love of color with you.
